Molecular Pathology PCR

Goffin Molecular Technologies has a range of Molecular Pathology PCR kits for the in-vitro detection of genetic variations, such as the ViennaLab RealFast™ Assays, the Celiac Disease PCR CeliaSCAN from TubaScan, the Factor II and the Factor V Leiding PCR Kit from AB analitica.

The ViennaLab RealFast™ Assays are based on real-time PCR and hydrolysis probes, also commonly called TaqMan® probes. The sequence-specific oligonucleotide probes carry a fluorescent reporter dye at the 5´-end and a quencher dye at the 3´-end. While the probe is intact, the quencher is close enough to the reporter to suppress the fluorescent signal of the 5´-fluorophore. During the combined annealing/extension phase of PCR, the probe is cleaved by the 5´ to 3´ exonuclease activity of Taq DNA polymerase, thereby separating the fluorophore from the quencher dye. This process results in detectable fluorescence, which is proportional to the amount of accumulated PCR product.

The CeliaSCAN kit (developed by TubaScan Ltd., NL), an easy to use multiplex real-time PCR Assay and Melting Curve Analysis for the in vitro detection of strongly Celiac Disease-associated human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-DQ2.5, HLA-DQ2.2, and HLA-DQ8.

Last, the Factor II Leiden PCR kit from AB analitica is a kit for detection and genotyping of the G20120A mutation in the human gene coding for Coagulation Factor II by Real-Time PCR. The Factor V Leiden PCR kit codes the human genes of the G1691A mutation (Leiden) by Real-Time PCR.
