The neisseria ghonorroeae PCR kit doubles detection of the 16s rRNA gene and the porA pseudogene. The bacterium neisseria ghonorroeae expresses the outer membrane porin, porA pseudogene. The sequence of this gene manifests itself in 36 sequence variants of which 30 have not been previously described, making the porA pseudogene a suitable genetic target for the detection of Neisseria ghonorroeae.
